Spring is in the air...& GIVEAWAY!!!!

and what better way to celebrate it then with a new tote...isn't this tote perfect for spring, it reminds me of tulips!  Since I love red tulips .....red it had to be!
I had bought this red & white fabric from Ikea last month and when I saw the pattern I knew right away it would be perfect for the tote. I also had some red linen in my stash...the bias tape is actually a charcoal gray but looks black in the photos.

The pattern is called Petal Pockets Tote by Cozy Nest Designs

The pattern comes in two sizes & a little cosmetic bag...
Purse ..16"W (top) , 8.5" (base) x 12.5" H x 2.5" D
Tote ..20"W(top), 12" (base) x 16" H x 4"D
Cometic bag ..9"W x 6" H

I made the tote size, since I wanted a nice big tote for shopping.
What really caught my eye...aside from the cool shape, was the hidden pockets....
Along the arch of the petal is a zipper pocket ...next to it is a slip pocket
The backside of the bag is the same, giving it a total of 4 pockets ! I decided to omit the zipper on the backside and have 2 slip pocket instead...I love it, this way I don't have to dig around in the tote of my cell phone or keys..they have their own pockets!
The handles were also a first for me ...2 sided with bias tape. I hate to admit it but they were way easier than I expected...actually sewing the whole bag was way easier then I expected.!
Another cool feature its ...its reversible !! Turn it inside out and a whole new look is born !
The tote is a good size ...I probably could fit a baby in there or a day of fabric shopping!
I love all the details on the bag
I just love the design of the bag...simple but eye catching!
The bag was easier to sew then I had expected, even all that bias tape wasn't a problem...The instructions are well written with lots of diagrams. It sews up fairly quickly. The only thing I did different was I made the bottom red strip wider by 1" then tapered the sides in to match it. The instructions say to use a heavy weight interfacing ( since I didn't have any) I used thermolam ( Bodenvlies) because the fabric is linen /deco weight it stands up on its own but next time I would use a heavy interfacing on the red part ( like the pattern says) for extra hold.

Now comes the best part...
Sarah has generously donated not 1 but 3 patterns !!!
That means you have 3 chances to win the pattern !!
There will be 3 lucky winners!!

If you would like to win this pattern ...just leave a comment...
... What is your favorite spring flower ??
I will make this a quick giveaway....I will pick the names on Easter Sunday & post them on Easter Monday!
Good Luck!!!

In case you can't wait to make you own purse or tote...you can find the pattern at Craftsy ....and its on sale for 50% off..but hurry its only on sale for a few weeks!
Happy Sewing
I almost forgot...since I had a bit of bias tape left over...I decided to make the little cosmetic case...can you say Super cute!!!

P.S. I have linked up with TT-Taschen und Täschchen
